Introduction

My first long walk in 2010 ands as with last year I have chosen a short long one. I have a busy year ahead and as my webmeister Stuart at www.walkingplaces.co.uk had written a new guide book, it would have been rude not to have walked this path. It fits in nicely to a long weekend and with four equal days of 13 miles, it’s a nice little leg warmer, and will make a nice change of pace from all the walking up in the Lake District. We had a warm up walk from Settle the week before and despite me being a little bit lame in the left knee we were heartened by the weather forecast for the trip – sunshine nearly all the way. I hope it’s not too hot....and if it is I’ve bought a new umbrella, so come rain or shine I’m ready.

The new guide, written by S.W.Greig is available via the companion website: http://www.herriotway.com/
